I started looking into serums recently that had honey in them. Manuka honey in particular. Honey is anti bacterial and moisturizes, it also helps with acne because of its anti bacterial properties. I've used manuka honey as a mask and exfoliator on my face. It can be harsh and drying so thought I'd try a serum.
I found a New Zealand organic website that has manuka honey in many products. New Zealand is a common place to get manuka honey, I'm not sure if it's the only place, I know it's based on the flower the bee lands on etc. I would have to look it up. Anyway, NZ Fusion Botanicals has a great basic manuka honey facial serum. It's 18+ on the manuka honey as the third ingredient. It has hibiscus flower extract, rose hip seed oil, DMAE, vitamin E and C, niacinamide, beta carotene and a few other things, no nasty ingredients such as alcohol, parabens or sulfates. It's light, moisturizing, non irritating and was cheap. I love it.nit has a glass bottle and great pump.
On the same website I found Wild Ferns Bee Venom Serum. Bee venom seems to be all the rage right now supposedly to lessen wrinkles by plumping the skin. Supposedly it's been called nature's Botox, but everything claims to be a Botox alternative right now. Make sure your not allergic to bees before you use this. I originally bought this and Manuka Doctor Anti Aging Serum and ingredient and texture wise I prefer this, this was a slight. It cheaper too. This serum has witch hazel extract, cucumber extract, ginger root extract, manuka honey, bee venom and other ingredients. I love the glass bottle but the pump cap is cheap. They should change that. It doesn't pump bad or jerky, just is cheap looking and feeling. I use this in the day if I want a boost.
Check out this blog to read about how bee venom works on the skin.
When you get into honey serums there's also royal jelly and propolis to add. Both have great skin properties. Propolis can be anti acne. Royal jelly has many nutrients. As a propolis serum I got Pevonia Botanica Linge Lavandou which has propolis and lavender flower water as the main two active ingredients.
I still need to find a good royal jelly serum... I found actual royal jelly that you have to keep in the freezer from Chicet, but haven't broken down and bought it yet.
