Hello everyone. Been a hot minute here since I've done a post. I've wanted to start doing smaller more frequent reviews on here again versus more large round up style posts that take me forever to make resulting in me ending up posting less. Plus these are easy to access and find again more so than Instagram posts. So let's start with this serum I just finished by iNNBeauty Project. Green Machine is a multi-focal serum with antioxidants, hydrators and brighteners. Details per iNNBeauty Project:
An oil/jelly serum for brighter, firmer, smoother looking skin. Infused with 15 green superfoods, 250K plant stem cells, vitamin C & more. Think of Green machine as your topical liquid skin vitamin that will brighten, tighten, firm & smooth the look of your skin. What’s so special about oil/jelly? It acts like both a serum penetrating deep & fast AND an oil, nourishing the skin barrier, in one easy step.
Key Ingredients:
- Daily Green Complex 15 green superfoods full of vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients & omega fatty acids that nourish & transform skin. Kale, spinach, spirulina, hemp, avocado, green tea, aloe, cucumber, moringa, holy basil, vegan collagen, thyme, oregano, algae and gingko biloba.
- 250K Sustainable Plant Stem Cells sustainably sourced from the sea fennel plant; help boost luminosity, improve the look of firmness & reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
- 1% Highly Stable Vitamin C (tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate) stable form of vitamin c; shown to reduce the appearance of wrinkles & improve skin brightness.
- Pomegranate Stem Cells helps reduce the look of hyperpigmentation, shown to be 20x more effective than kojic acid.
- Quinoa, Hemp & Oil rich in omega fatty acids, vitamin A & E, & antioxidants. Help moisturize & nourish skin without clogging pores.
- Azelaic acid helps reduce the look of hyperpigmentation, uneven texture & tone
The color is a light jade green, the texture is like a jelly serum or emulsion that's not creamy (think oils mixed with hydrators). There's no real scent I detect, just a light vegetable scent maybe, very faint and almost indiscernible. The serum is light, hydrating plus it's not heavy or sticky. This layers well and doesn't pill for me. It's a dropper style bottle with a fun colorful plastic color. You know I wish we had more affordable fun well thought out skincare like this when I was younger. I think this is perfect for someone in their 20s/early 30s. You've got fatty acids, antioxidants (vitamin C, pomegranate), hydrators (aloe, glycerin), nourishing plant extracts (cucumber, turmeric) plus brighteners (vitamin C, PAD, pomegranate). It could be a one and done serum for many in the morning. It could potentially be a moisturizer for more oily skin types. It doesn't feel particularly heavy or oily so I think it should be fine for everyone.
This actually has Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate (PAD) which is an azelaic acid derivative so I do think the brands description is a little misleading because the derivative is not really the same as azelaic acid (AA). However, I actually much prefer PAD to AA because I find it less irritating to my skin. I also really enjoy PAD for brightening and evening of my skin tone. They're just not the same ingredient ultimately so maybe clarifying that a little would be good. Just like vitamin C derivatives such as Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (THA)--as in this serum, in not technically ascorbic acid. I also think pomegranate enzymes and extract is a really fun ingredient for antioxidants and brightening. It's nice to have things other than standard old vitamin C and E.
This particular vitamin C derivative is one of the better ones in my personal experience. The percentage is lower so I'm not sure how much brightening you'll actually get which is why I think it's a great place to start for someone in their 20s/early 30s or someone just getting into skincare. Perhaps even in your teens, I think this would be good for them as well. If you have more severe hyperpigmentation or melasma I don't think this will be the most powerful option for you. It's totally non-irritating for me and I have rosacea which is great. It's got soothing plant extracts as well like holy basil and cucumber. Holy basil is an adaptogenic plant extract. I think it's a good starter product for someone to streamline a routine (antioxidants, brighteners, hydrators and barrier help with fatty acids). I didn't really get that much brightening out of it, but overall I thought it was nice.
