Kjaer Weis Cream Foundation: Illusion

I absolutely adore the Kjaer Weis compacts. This is a luxury clean and natural makeup brand. The luxe compacts are heavy weight and very chic. I love the Kjaer Weis blushes and highlighters so I wanted to try the Cream Foundation. I grabbed shade Illusion. Details per Kjaer Weis:

Creamy, blendable, weightless texture with a semi-matte finish

Key Ingredients

  • JOJOBA SEED OIL Adds moisture to the skin
  • SWEET ALMOND SEED OIL A natural emollient used to moisturize and promote skin elasticity
  • COCONUT OIL Natural skin moisturizer

How to Apply

Because this Foundation is formulated without synthetics, it’s important to apply to a well moisturized face. Pair it with the The Beautiful Oil or your favorite moisturizer for beautiful, buildable coverage. Formulated with skin-care level ingredients, the Foundation is makeup that benefits your skin with every use. Can be applied by hand or with the Kjaer Weis Foundation Brush.

The Kjaer Weis compacts are always a treat to have. The heavy duty silver compacts swing open to expose the product. They close magnetically. The best part is that Kjaer Weis products are refillable. So you buy the compact once then can buy a cheaper refill instead of a whole new product. Not only is it cheaper for you but it’s also less waste for the environment.

This is a cream foundation. I find it really hydrating because of the oils (coconut, sweet almond & jojoba). This is great for normal to drier skin or winter. This foundation is buildable and gives light to medium full coverage. I find the finish more dewy versus semi-matte. It has a luminous quality that adds a healthy glow to the skin. I get eight hours of wear out of this and it doesn’t break down on me, but I do get a bit greasy in the forehead and nose around mid to end of day. I have to powder the t-zone when I wear this foundation, even in the winter. It’s definitely a more moisturizing foundation. I don’t think I could get away with this in the summer here in Houston (too hot and humid).

This foundation is great for drier skin types and people who live in colder environments. If you’re looking for a hydrating creamy foundation that doesn’t look cakey you’ll like this one. Oily or acne prone skin types might have to test this out first especially as it has coconut oil which can wreak havoc on my skin in the summer (it breaks me out when I sweat). This has a very nice finish, it’s light and blends right into the skin. It looks very natural. Out of all the cream foundations that are this kind of texture this is my favorite. It’s just a bit too moisturizing for me (coconut oil is not my friend most of the time).

I grabbed Illusion which was a fairly good match for my NC 27ish skin tone. When choosing a foundation I tend to lean towards the darker end if there’s not a perfect match as it will look more natural than if it’s too light.

Illusion A warm, honey beige. For medium to medium dark skin with golden or olive undertones.
