Mesoestetic AOX Ferulic

Mesoestetic was put on my radar by an Instagram friend (Farah @beamwonder). This is a Spanish brand founded in the back shop of a small pharmacy. Mesoestetic was born in response to aesthetic medicine professionals need to find formulas for their market. I’ve tried some sunscreens so far but I wanted to venture more into their skincare line as well.

Ascorbic acid serums are my go to for vitamin C products. Vitamin C as we all know brightens and evens the skin tone, reduces dark spots, helps stimulate collagen production and serves as a free radical fighter. Ascorbic acid is fussy to formulate with, it oxidizes and it can be hard to get the formulation right with it. It has to be at a low pH which can be irritating for some plus yeah the stability and oxidation. Nonetheless I love it as it’s the standard for vitamin C and it brightens like no other. I finally grabbed the AOX Ferulic serum as it went on sale on facethefuture.com a british site I’ve bought from before. Details per Mesoestetic:

Anti-ageing concentrated treatment that prevents and works against oxidative cell damage. It protect fibroblasts and improves collagen fibre synthesis. Biological shield against oxidation produced by UVB, UVA, IR, and VISIBLE LIGHT (HEV). Protects the natural antioxidant system and barrier function of the skin. Prevents photo and chrono-ageing.

This serum has a 15% ascorbic acid concentration, 0.5% ferulic acid (enhances ascorbic acid stability) plus a 1.5% protech-cell complex–vitamin E & Bis-Ethylhexyl Hydroxydimethoxy Benzylmalonate (photostabilizes UV filters). This is a simple vitamin C serum with no fragrance, no alcohol. It is water based but does have propanediol which also gives it a slightly moisturizing texture combined with the other ingredients. Compared to some ascorbic acid serums I find this one pretty lightweight. It feels silky and satin like on the skin, not heavy or greasy at all. It sinks in quickly. Apply first thing after cleansing and move onto your other layers. This one layers well, no pilling.

Ingredients

AQUA, PEG-8 CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC GLYCERIDES, ASCORBIC ACID, PROPANEDIOL, ETHOXYDIGLYCOL, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, FERULIC ACID, BIS-ETHYLHEXYL HYDROXYDIMETHOXY BENZYLMALONATE, PHENOXYETHANOL, DIMETHYL MEA, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN

I find this serum highly effective at brightening, it took quite a while for it to start to oxidize, longer than some other ascorbic acid serums I’ve tried. I found it non-irritating even for my rosacea more sensitive this year skin. The serum does start out clear, this above photo was a month or so into the bottle. It has no discernible scent for me and like I said it’s light and doesn’t pill or anything, it layers well. I actually really enjoyed this one. I used it daily in the mornings and sometimes took the weekend off.

Literally the only con to this one is the price. It’s not cheap. I suggest getting it on sale and if you’re an ascorbic acid connoisseur you need to try it. It’s been way too long since I tried the other really expensive $160 ascorbic acid serum on the US market, but if memory serves me right this one is a touch lighter in texture. Now no one needs to pay $160 for a vitamin C serum, I’ll make that clear. At least this one goes on sale, and at a good discount at times, compared to the other who only gets a max of 15% off. Ever. I got my bottle for 50% off from facethefuture.com and I would suggest signing up to their newsletter if you’re looking for deals on higher grade skincare as they have a ton of deals. Would I buy this again, yes. Overall it was really nice. Well done ascorbic acid serum.
