I've been going through multiple retinol serums over the past year. I'm 38 and feel like it's time to fully explore retinol. I've never used it on a regular basis in the past. I figure I have this window to test retinol before I go for baby number two and can't use it for a year. I will most definitely be going back to retinol after baby number two. Retinol is a form of Vitamin A and great for pretty much all anti-aging concerns. Discolorations such as brown spots and acne scars, uneven tone and texture, fine lines and wrinkles, even acne.
My personal view on retinol is that you don't really need it until at least 35, probably closer to 40 unless you have major issues. There's no reason to saddle yourself down with it in your 20s and early 30s. Retinol while having so many benefits, is not without side effects. It can cause dryness, irritation and increase sun sensitivity. The strength of retinol in non prescription serums, such as this, is much lower and less likely to cause these side effects, however it's still a possibility. Retinol even in this lower strength form is still not considered pregnancy safe as well which is another reason I say to avoid it until you're 35-40. Anytime I use a retinol, or switch to a new retinol formula, I tend to break out for about a week then it subsides.

This is a moisturizing night retinol serum. It's a creamy serum with a thicker texture and pale yellow in color. It has a minimal scent, Omorovicza style. Their scents are never strong or bothersome, just clean. The package is a dark brown glass bottle with a gold dropper. I was not a fan of this dropper bottle. I found it hard to dispense the product. I had to tilt it every time and really work at sucking it up in the dropper. This would have been so much better as a pump. I also don't like my ingredients in a serum being exposed to air like with a dropper style package. I want a pump.
Beyond retinol, Gold Night Drops has colloidal gold for reducing inflammation, Vitamin C which at night is said to stimulate collage production, the Hungarian Thermal Water which is amazing and there's nothing like it, plus multiple other great natural ingredients. It's a really great serum, well rounded. It wasn't irritating for me at all, no redness. Just minimal breakouts the first week I used it. I find you can reduce the initial retinol breakout intensity if you start every other day and work your way up to everyday.
While I was given this serum to test as a gift, I would buy it again no question. I would love to see the package changed to a pump, I feel that would enhance this serum and solidify it as a major contender in the anti-aging serum category for me.

A good way to avoid irritation with any retinol or vitamin A based product is to apply to dry skin only. Wait at least 15 minutes after washing your face before applying. A light moisturizer can be applied underneath and that may help those who fear they may be intolerant to retinol and the like.
