OUMERE: Overview

I’m finally getting around to the OUMERE overview. I know you all have been curious about this brand forever. I started my introduction to the brand by using Serum Bioluminelle. I’m now on my second bottle and it’s easily my favorite product they make. Serum Bioluminelle is a bi-phase serum oil. It has plant extracts and oils, mix, then apply. It feels more like a lightweight facial oil on the skin and its good for anyone who is afraid of oils but could use the extra fatty acids. It has the coolest beaker shaped bottle, the whole brand has a lab inspired aesthetic which I love. It’s just really cool glass packaging. I took this photo over a year ago and they have just recently in the last few months revamped their packaging. While I loved the old look the new one has droppers which will make everything travel friendly and I think it was an improvement. Serum Bioluminelle’s packaging seems to have stayed the same. I love the combination of antioxidants, hydrators, adaptogens, plant extracts and my favorite ursolic acid. I already did a full review of this product on the blog so head over HERE as my thoughts have not changed. This is a superb lightweight oil that leaves my skin smoother, plumper and more radiant with continued use. It’s in my top 3 lightweight facial oils.

I’ve tried several sample sizes of the Oil Dissolution Theory. This is the brands cleanser. Details per OUMERE:

This is an oil based cleanser that’s also bi-phase. Shake before you use and apply on dry skin. Massage on the skin like an oil, then add water to emulsify and rinse. It does rinse clean. No residue. This was a pretty simple cleanser, oils and aloe. It’s effective and I liked it, but it’s not an item I would spend the luxury price tag it comes with on. It just lacks something for me in the pleasure department. It has a very basic oil scent and I know the brand doesn’t use essential oils or fragrance but it’s just kind of plain. If you want a luxury oil based cleanser grab Deviant Cleansing Concentrate because that’s essential oil and fragrance free but still have a nice earthy aroma that adds to the cleansing ritual.

No. 9 Daily Liquid Exfoliant is the brands acid toner and only acid product. Details per OUMERE;

OUMERE’s No. 9 daily liquid exfoliant contains alpha hydroxy, beta hydroxy and poly hydroxy acids to gently exfoliate dead skin cells while promoting skin cell renewal.

Directions No. 9 should only be used with OUMERE products to avoid irritation and to experience the most powerful and profound anti-aging results. Apply several drops onto a cotton pad. For those with sensitive skin or skin not used to chemical exfoliation, add equal parts water to cotton pad to dilute. Beginning at the forehead, pat cotton pad gently onto face, neck, and décolleté. Do not rub product into skin as this can cause irritation. There is no need to rinse product off, No. 9 will cease exfoliating after approximately 30 minutes when your skin naturally returns to its normal pH level. Wait at least one minute before applying additional products. The longer No. 9 stays on skin before applying next product, the more exfoliation your skin will experience.

This is a powerful liquid exfoliant. I don’t know the acid percentage total but it’s not for the faint of heart. I would guess it’s somewhere in the 12-15% acid range based on how it feels on my skin but I have no idea ultimately. I’ve only used a few sample sizes and never had a large one. I thought about buying a large one at some point but now that I’m barely using acids I likely won’t. This has a water light texture and uses AHAs, PHAs and BHAs so it well rounded as an acid blend. It has lactic and mandelic acids for the AHAs so it’s good for pigmentation, problem skin and those who can’t tolerate glycolic acid. No. 9 has lactobionic acid and gluconolactone for PHAs the more gentle cousin of AHAs. I love PHAs myself as they’re more gentle, hydrating and have some antioxidant properties. Then this has salicylic acid and willow bark as the BHAs to help clear out your pores. This product also has apple cider vinegar which has natural AHAs adding to it’s exfoliating power.

No. 9 also has some soothing, brightening and anti-inflammatory added plant extracts like licorice, mulberry, turmeric, aloe, grapeseed and pseudoalteromonas ferment. There’s no way I could use this one daily, it’s a weekly treatment for me. I first tried this in late 2017/early 2018 and it reminded me of BR P50 as far as texture and strength. They’re different but they do resemble each other in the way they feel and act on the skin. Plus No. 9 has a similar vinegar scent from the apple cider vinegar. Deviant Gentle Resurfacing Liquid also feels similar but a bit more gentle. If you like one of those three liquid exfoliants I mentioned, you’ll like all of these.

The Eye Serum became my second favorite product from the line. Details per OUMERE:

This eye serum has a very fluid liquid texture. It is actually pretty hydrating for the fluid texture. It has a slight film that it leaves which keeps the area hydrated. If you have oily eyes you likely don’t need an eye cream, if you have dry eyes like me you will need a cream over this as it’s not enough on it’s own. It sinks in quickly. This has no discernible scent I remember. This bottle lasts literally forever. I used it twice a day for 6 months and it lasted that whole time. You only need a drop and then split that on both eyes. The Eyer Serum has suma and bladderwrack extract to help with dark circles (reduces heme pooling), elastin protein (hydrating), soy rice proteins and oxidoreductase for age spots and puffiness, pea extract, arbutin and licorice for brightening, ursolic acid for rejuvenation and anti-aging.

I love ursolic acid. It’s an interesting ingredient not seen a whole lot. It’s anti-aging, anti-inflammatory & found naturally in a variety of fruit and plants. Ursolic acid has been shown to prevent the development of cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase, inflammatory enzymes that aggravate the skin. Ursolic acid has been thought to form a barrier on the skin much like a waxy coating on a piece of fruit. I find products I use that have it tend to help smooth out my skin really well. This eye serum is expensive but it did last forever. It didn’t do much for my dark circles (hereditary, structural issues for me, not much helps so no surprise there) but man this really smoothed out the fine lines and crow’s feet for me. It made the skin under my eyes quite taught and firm. I really loved that about it. It brightens a touch but it really was the smoothing and firmness I liked about this. I would buy it again now that it has a new bottle with a dropper. The old package leaked and wasn’t travel friendly. One product that I would say is similar effect wise for me is the NIOD FECC. Similar texture and effectiveness.

UV-R is the brands antioxidant or treatment serum. Details oer OUMERE:

The texture is water light and it absorbs quickly. The focus of this product is preventing UV damage which is a leading cause of aging, so in theory helping with UV damage by prevention and treating it should help with all the signs of aging (lines, wrinkles, dark spots, lack of firmness and so on). Green tea, ginseng, mulberry and Polygonum aviculare are all antioxidant rich while cilantro, broccoli sprout and cordyceps (mushroom) help with UV damage repair. The texture of this will suit any skin type from oily to dry and I think anyone would benefit from what it offers. The product is fermented which helps increase it’s antioxidant power and makes the nutrients easier for the skin to absorb. It’s pleasant to use and while expensive the bottle has lasted me almost six months with once a day use.

Antioxidant serums are very hard to give a definitive yes I see a result from this product as you really would have to use it on half your face for 6 months (or longer potentially) to compare. So I enjoy it and I would continue to use it because I like it. I have other antioxidant serums to move onto playing with but I may come back and try it again more some day. I love that they changed the bottle on this now with a dropper as this one leaked on me too and wasn’t portable. If OUMERE added ursolic acid to this product I likely would use it forever. I’ve been wanting an ursolic acid serum and I love fermented products especially when they’re lightweight like this. The texture makes this a joy to use because it’s so easy to layer and it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. UV-R goes as number three favorite from the brand and yeah I would consider trying it again in the future.
