Around 3 months after Ella was born I started to loose my hair. The dreaded post partum hair loss had begun. This was a hair loss like nothing I had experienced. I'm normally a shedder. I loose hair in the shower a lot anyway, this was way above that. My temples were thinning and my hair line was receding. I decided to grab this old bottle of Nioxin 1 Cleanser I bought for my husband. He's currently using #2 so I had this leftover bottle he wasn't using. I figured it was worth a shot to see if it helped.
Magically, it did help. In a few weeks my hair loss noticeably slowed down. It didn't stop, but it slowed down. Overall, my post partum hair loss stopped around 6 months, now it's just normal shedding like before. My lost hair is now growing back, mostly in the outer edges of my hairline between the temple and forehead. Now I have these inch long hairs grouped in those spots and oddly it looks like horns.
I'm happy to at least have the hair loss stopped and back to normal, even if I have to have horns for a little while until it grows in fully. I would recommend this shampoo to anyone as being worth a shot. There are different shampoo levels 1-4. Level 1 is for normal to thin looking fine hair. I have fine hair. There is a version for color treated hair, though I find color treated shampoos aren't really all that helpful if you're artificially blonde. The brassiness comes anyway if you have hard water, I could see it maybe helping a redhead or brunette from fading. I just find no real difference in using a color treated shampoo versus a regular hair shampoo.
Per Ulta: "Nioxin System 1 Cleanser helps to remove follicle-clogging sebum, and environmental residues from the scalp and hair. Cleanses to provide thicker-looking hair. For normal - thin looking, fine, natural non chemically treated hair."

How to use: Apply to wet hair, gently massage into scalp and hair. Lather 1 minute. Rinse thoroughly. Use daily.
Just as an FYI I used this every other day, not daily, and it helped. The shampoo is a clear blue shade with a slight mint scent. It wasn't drying nor really hydrating either. Ulta tends to have tons of sales on this shampoo which is when I stock up for my husband. Right now it's two for $25 when a normal 10 oz bottle is $19. I usually prefer a sulfate free shampoo, but beggars can't be choosers on hair loss shampoo.
