SACHI Ursolic Acid & Retinal Overnight Reform

So lets talk about this gem today the SACHI Ursolic Acid & Retinal Overnight Reform. SACHI Skin was created by a long time friend of mine on Instagram. I was immediately into its launch as I love both retinal and ursolic acid. Retinaldehyde is my favorite retinoid as I find it incredibly effective with low side effects and ursolic acid is one of my all time favorite ingredients. You’ve seen me mention it in reviews in the past.

First off I love the airless pump and the design is spot on. It’s slim too so it fits on a narrow shelf well. The texture is really nice—it’s a gel cream so I can see everyone loving the texture. Especially if you hate thick creamy retinoid products like me. The product has a light green, earthy scent and while it is free of essential oil and added fragrance, there are herbal extracts. Scent is light and I find it soothing. So as far as packaging and product texture both are A+ for me.

This is an all in one night treatment that really helps with everything. Ursolic Acid & Retinal helps speed up cellular regeneration resulting in a reduction of lines and wrinkles, increased elasticity, firmer tone and smoother texture. Brighteners help even the skin tone while soothing hydrators and antioxidants support the skin. It also helps with congestion and breakouts. It’s an all in one as I said plus it has something for everyone. I cared less about the congestion and breakouts but it helped me with my elasticity, lines, wrinkles and pigmentation. This has encapsulated retinaldehyde (0.05%). I absolutely adore retinal. My skin loves it more than retinol. I find it more effective as I can use it more often with almost no side effects or irritation. I get a little dryness when using retinal but that’s about it. This product also has bakuchiol which has been shown to stabilize retinol helping it work better plus the calming can help increase your tolerance. So they’re really great together—another bonus.

This product has liposomal ursolic acid. The liposomal delivery system will help ursolic acid get into the skin better. So I know many are saying ursolic acid? It’s not a commonly known ingredient but it’s been around for a while. I’ve been a fan for years and I’m always trying to search out products that contain it because I’ve seen what it can do. Ursolic acid is anti-aging and anti-inflammatory. It’s found naturally in a variety of fruit and plants. Ursolic acid has been shown to prevent the development of cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase, inflammatory enzymes that aggravate the skin. Ursolic acid has been thought to form a barrier on the skin much like a waxy coating on a piece of fruit. For me I’ve found with consistent use products that use ursolic acid have this kind of smoothing, protective, anti-wrinkle effect. Big fan.

This also has Holy Basil an adaptogenic plant (think anti-inflammatory, anti microbial), black cumin seed oil (antibacterial, anti-inflammatory) plus antioxidants superoxide dismutase (potent reducer of oxidative stress), niacinamide, glutathione (another fav, tripeptide to restore/brighten, it’s said the gradual reduction of our natural supply can cause outward signs of aging), rosehip & carrot seed oil (rich in natural vitamin A/carotenoids and complementary to retinoids). This also has hyaluronic acid and glycerin plus soothers milk thistle and oat oil. As you can see it’s a well rounded power ingredient packed product to target really all signs of aging. It really ticks a lot of boxes. Plus the texture makes it a joy to use.

I’ve had this product since Jan 15th. However, I had a few setbacks. The setbacks were completely unrelated to the product it was only my rosacea flaring up with the winter weather that caused me to scale back use of actives. I really didn’t get full steam ahead into this until the third week of February and I just finished it two weeks ago. I started using it once a week, then moved up to twice then settled at 3x a week for a month. After that I was at a 4x a week level and left it there until it was empty. You can see the gel cream texture below and it has a yellow hue. I really really loved this product. The texture was spot on, I love the packaging, it has ingredients I love and the efficacy to match. It’s a well thought out, well rounded formulation that would for many be an all in one treatment. I still “need” my extra peptides and growth factors. One thing I’ve learned in the last year is that I prefer a good retinoid over acids. This one was easy to use and I only had minimal dryness like any retinoid (for me). This helped with my pigmentation a little but it was really the overall smoothing, plumping, firming and line reducing effects that I was into.

I hate to compare to other brands but if you like Medik8 retinals you will like this one, though I like SACHI’s scent and texture better. They’re similar in effectiveness (I would put SACHI near level 6 of Medik8 Crystal Retinal) but SACHI has a slight more smoothing effect from the ursolic acid. If you like retinal and you want well rounded products that do more in one product (can avoid 5 layers), I highly recommend trying this one. It merges the best of botanicals and man made synthetics for effective formulations. Call it green chemistry or whatever you want. I’m here for this new era of brands and products.

This was gifted by brand but all thoughts are my own. I will be posting about the serum & acid treatment once I finish the serum. I bought both of those on launch day.

  1. I hope you post your review about their other two products. Just bought all 3 during the sale and excited to try them out when they arrive. I currently use Maya Chia’s the Straight A, so I am interested in how it will compare.

I’m very curious to see how the pigmentation corrector works. I have a couple of areas that need help.
