The Inkey List: Part 3

Time to discuss some more products from affordable skincare brand The INKEY List. The British brand has been doing really well in its formulations. They don’t do only single ingredient or targeted focus formulations, though they do have a few single focus style products. The Q10 Serum is a nice hydrating antioxidant serum. Details per The Inkey List:

A powerful antioxidant that is naturally found in the body, it can protect the skin from damage caused by environmental stressors such as pollution. A naturally occurring enzyme, Q10 works in the upper layers of the skin to help prevent damage and repair.  Q10 levels diminish over time, so using Q10 can help to protect the skin from damage that can accelerate signs of ageing.

You can see the texture is a nice light creamy hydrating serum. It sinks in with ease no pilling or layering issues. It’s fragrance free and only $6.99. This is a hydrating antioxidant serum with squalane, vitamin E, CoQ10, hyaluronic acid and peptides Palmitoyl Dipeptide-5 Diaminobutyroyl Hydroxythreonine & Palmitoyl Dipeptide-5 Diaminohydroxybutyrate (increase elasticity & firmness, stimulate collagen production). CoQ10 is a fat soluble vitamin naturally found in our bodies. Some studies have shown CoQ10 can help the signs of aging and that environmental factors may reduce the natural CoQ10 in our skin. CoQ10 has soothing and antioxidant properties. The serum is cheap and has a nice pleasant texture.

The Retinol serum was a pleasant surprise. The texture is quite nice. It’s thin and lightweight plus it’s hydrating. Details per The Inkey List:

A derivative of Vitamin A, Retinol helps to promote skin renewal and enhance collagen production. As we get older the rate at which our skin renews itself slows. Retinol works beneath the skin surface at a cellular level to promote cell renewal and repair processes so that newer cells reach the surface quicker. The result is brighter, smoother skin.

Stimulating these renewal processes in the skin makes Retinol a powerful ingredient for reversing signs of ageing as well as improving overall skin clarity for a healthy-looking complexion. Using Retinol can aid with a number of skin concerns such as reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone and pigmentation issues making it an all round must have for healthy looking skin.

  • Reduce fine lines

We all know retinol is the gold standard for anti-aging. It helps with fine lines and wrinkles, reducing texture, age spots, helps even the skin tone, stimulates collagen production and renews the skin for a more youthful appearance. This serum has a beautiful light creamy serum texture. It layers well and has no pilling issues. It’s also fragrance free. This serum has 1% retinol which is the highest over the counter percentage plus 0.5% retinoid in the form of HPR (Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate) which is one of my favorites. It’s also got vitamin E, hyaluronic acid and firming peptides. This was effective and I found it non-irritating. It’s really a beautiful retinol serum especially for $9.99. I can’t think of a better one in that price range. I love using this on the back of my hands as well to reduce those age spots. I would absolutely buy this again. This actually could be my staple hand treatment (I’m always rotating a new face one in so it’s hard to have a staple).

The Sea Kelp serum is fairly new and was limited edition. I guess they made 5000 bottles only. It looks like it’s sold out but in case it ever pops up again I’ll talk about it. Details per Sephora:

An innovative, INKEY lab-edition serum that uses sea kelp and malachite mineral to help to reduce pollution on the skin and strengthen skin’s barrier.

Key Ingredients:

  • Sea Kelp Extract 1%: Helps to protect, strengthen, and reduce pollutants from the skin.
  • Malachite Mineral Complex 5%: Provides antioxidant and skin detoxification properties.

Ingredients

Aqua (Water/Eau), Macrocystis Pyrifera (Kelp) Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Glycerin, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Levulinate, Lysolecithin, Sclerotium Gum, Malachite Extract, Pullulan, Sodium Anisate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Gluconate, Citric Acid, Silica, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate.

This has such a light hydrating texture. Very nice. It’s a hydrating serum with a bit of pollution protection so it’s great in the daytime. It has sea kelp, glycerin, malachite & pullulan. Sea kelp does many things including calm, soothe, moisturize and has antioxidant & anti-inflammatory properties. Malachite in an antioxidant and anti-pollution fighter. Glycerin and pullulan will help hydrate. This is actually a hyaluronic acid free serum so it hydrates other ways which is nice cause everyone has hyaluronic acid in everything. It’s super light so it sinks in really quick. Could even make a great essence.

Overall this was a great selection of The INKEY List to try. I loved all three. My favorite is the retinol with the Sea Kelp falling right behind. The Retinol and Q10 were gifted by the brand, I purchased the other. All thoughts are my own.
