Top 3: Peptides

Peptides. One of my favorites categories of skincare. Peptides are short chains of amino acids. They're building blocks of proteins like collagen, elastin & keratin. They are the foundation of your skin and responsible for the texture plus its overall strength & resilience. In skincare they can help with anything from increasing firmness, hydration & collagen production, reducing lines/wrinkles and pigmentation. They are anti-aging and give your skin a rejuvenated feel. If you're not using peptides daily you should be. Peptides are an integral part of a multi-focal approach to your daily skincare routine. I've tried a lot of peptides over the years. As of right now these are my three favorites.

Drunk Elephant Protini. It's more of a gel cream that a peptide serum but you can use it as a hydrating treatment layer if you have dry skin or as a moisturizer if you're more oily. I love the airless pump jar plus Protini leaves my skin plump, bouncy and youthful. It increases the elasticity in my skin very well. It's got a great combination of peptides and growth factors that will fully give your skin a rejuvenated appearance. It lasts quite a while and it's decently priced for what it is. Peptides are a more expensive skincare ingredients and this one has quite a peptide packed formulation. It's easily one of the best ones on the market for the formulation and price. Highly recommend. Paula's Choice Peptide Booster. This is a true peptide serum. It has a lightweight gel serum hydrating texture. Very easy to layer and should easily suit all skin types. This is about the same price as Protini and it's decently priced for what it is. This one is more of a line/wrinkle reducer serum and has eight peptides. This is a long haul serum. You're meant to use this for a long time for the most optimal results. It was a little less noticeable and long lasting than Protini for me (Protini gives me quick and more noticeable plumping). If you're looking for a long term anti wrinkle serum this is one to look at. It's decently priced and has a great texture. Review HERE. I actually like to use this serum with Protini for the best wrinkle and plumping regimen.

VENN Age-Reversing All-In-One Concentrate. Easily the best peptide product I've used to date for lines/wrinkles and plumping. This is a gel cream textured product with a multi-focal effect on aging. It has antioxidants (fifteen if you want to know), peptides and other skin loving ingredients with a patented delivery system. It has unique Compound K from ginseng as well. I'm on bottle three and I will say when I use this it gives my skin the best plump, firm skin ever plus it reduces my lines/wrinkles like no other to date. It is nowhere near as affordable as the other two but it easily is the only product to ever plump, firm and reduce my lines and wrinkles in under a month. Once I quit using it my lines and wrinkle come back. Such a bitch. It does last quite a long time so that's a bonus. If price were no object I would probably use this one every night. Review HERE.

All three of these brands do a really good job at formulating. These products are all fragrance free and easy to use. They all work which is the main thing. Some are more expensive than others. I would say VENN is slightly thicker than Protini but not by much. VENN is also the most effective of the three at reduction in fine lines/wrinkles plus plumping, firming and overall elasticity of the skin. It is my favorite easily because it is so effective and does it all. VENN is also a well rounded formulation with antioxidants if you want more of a one treatment product. It's price doesn't suit everyone. Drunk Elephant Protini is really great at plumping, firming and increasing elasticity. It does reduce fine lines/wrinkles but it's not as noticeable or effective as VENN. It's a great one for many as not everyone can afford VENN. Paula's Choice has a beautiful light serum texture and is great at reducing fine lines/wrinkles in the long term (no instant effects here) but it's not as great at plumping and elasticity as Protini. All three are great choices and the better ones I've used. I currently have a Neocutis one and Medik8 I want to test then we'll see if my Top 3 changes. What's your favorite peptide serum?

*All three gifted & all thoughts are my own.

  1. Great post!
I never thought about protini this way because it’s always marketed as a moisturizer and it didn’t do it for me in that roll but I loved it as a layer.

Medik8 is currently my favourite. I find it layers extremely well and it makes my skin so soft. I’ve also tried kate Somerville Kx actives and it was wonderful.

    1. Medik8 is in my closet to try soon, I'm excited. Yes Protini was never a moisturizer level for me, just a nice layer.
