Urban Decay recently got rid of it's Revolution Lipstick line and replaced it with the Vice Lipstick line. Vice Lipstick has 120 shades, 20 exclusive to Sephora, with 20 available everywhere but Sephora. So each store has 100 shades. There is six finishes: Mega Matte, Comfort Matte, Cream, Metallized, Sheer & Sheer Shimmer. The case is the same shape as the Gwen Stefani and Alice in Wonderland cases, except it's a gunmetal with gold base. Very reminiscent of the original metal cases the lipsticks came in when Urban Decay first launched. The new case is plastic and very lightweight. The retail for the Vice Lipsticks is $17.
Per Urban Decay's website: "Prepare to get hooked. Vice Lipstick comes in a massive lineup of 100 addictive shades and six indulgent finishes—our biggest lineup yet! Our shade range has it all: Bold brights. Dark, sexy shades. Super-versatile neutrals. With so much variety it’ll make your head spin, there’s something for everyone—from new shades to cult favorites you thought you’d never see again. Several shades were inspired by some of our other lip products (and even our Eyeshadows and Eye Pencils!). Our huge assortment also includes more finishes than ever before:
MEGA MATTE: super-intense matte
COMFORT MATTE: our creamiest matte
CREAM: the original: creamy, badass luxury
METALLIZED: cream with a high level of pearl
SHEER: a punch of color with a sheer, shiny finish
SHEER SHIMMER: slightly transparent finish with floating pearl and a smooth texture
The pigment load in Vice Lipstick is insane! Just one swipe provides an unbelievable laydown of color. And every shade applies smoothly (without dragging or skipping), hugs lips, and feels amazing! Our proprietary Pigment Infusion System™ gives the formula its super-creamy texture, rich payout and superior color dispersion.
This creamy formula is loaded with nourishing ingredients. A yummy butter blend comforts, hydrates and enhances, leaving lips soft and conditioned, never dry. Aloe vera, jojoba, avocado and babassu oils nourish and soften lips. Illipe butter (derived from Malaysian illipe trees) provides long-lasting moisture. And Vitamin C and vitamin E provide a hit of antioxidants.
Vice Lipstick comes in a modernized, luxed-up version of our original lipstick case that looked like a shotgun shell. It’s new, but speaks to our roots. The faceted gunmetal case has a gold base and debossed lettering, and our custom-designed lipstick features an embossed “UD.” We even added a shade-matched label (including the shade name and finish) to make it easy to find the right color within the depths of your bag."
The Vice formula is a bit glossier and thinner, less creamy than the Revolution lipsticks. It's more emollient and has a touch more slip. I prefer the Revolution formula for the darker shades, it lasts just a smidgen longer. I like the Vice formula for the Sheer Shimmer shades like Alice and Ex-Girlfriend.
Wrath is a Sephora exclusive. It's the Metallized formula and described as a metallic red. While that is accurate, it's a very unique red. It looks like a metallic neutral red in the tube, but it swatches and applies warmer. It's not blue based or cool at all. It reminds me of Hourglass Extreme Sheen High Shine Lip Gloss in Siren, only in a more pigmented lipstick form. I have been waiting for a metallic red shade like this forever! There's always reds with some shimmer, or high shimmer, but none that really look metallic. It's been ages since I had a tube of the original metal case Gash when it first launched, but I remember it being more metallic, not quite to this level, but this is what I wish the Revolution formula Gash was like.
Wrath is an intense red shade, very fun. It's creamy, moisturizing and very comfortable to wear, not drying at all. Because it is so metallic I'm not sure this is a work appropriate red, depends where you work. I'm a nurse so it's not so much for me at work. Being emollient it came off after eating and drinking fairly quickly. I had just a ring on the outside of my lips after one drink and a Biscotti. So be prepared to reapply often. If you love red, and are always looking for a new unique shade of red(since truly there can only be so many shades of red) grab Wrath it's so pretty. I would love to see if they could make this in the Comfort Matte formula just to give it a touch longer wear without being a Mega Matte dry.
Wrath is a very unique shade and hard to capture well in photos. I had to take a hundred photos at least to get a dozen. The shimmer kept turning gold in sunlight, which wasn't right it's not gold at all. The other photos turned blurry because the metallic shimmer reflected the light so much the camera couldn't focus on it well in the sunlight. It changes it's hue based on the light easily.
