YUNI Yunicorn Celestial Jelly Mask Cleanser

I rarely post about a new item this quickly. But when it’s a jelly cleansing balm with a unicorn sheen I have no problem moving quickly. YUNI just launched Yunicorn Celestial Jelly Mask Cleanser. Details per YUNI Beauty:

A luminescent dual-action gel cleanser and mask that purifies and revitalizes your skin. This unique gel-to-milk formula lifts away dirt and impurities to leave your skin silky smooth. Sea Lavender, Rice bran and Honeysuckle give skin a surge of moisture to restore a healthy, radiant glow. Indulge in a 1-minute mask ritual daily, or after a workout, to help calm and detoxify skin.

Benefits

  • Leaves skin soft, supple and glowing
  • Rinses clean without over-stripping skin
  • Detoxifies, hydrates and soothes tired and dehydrated skin

Directions

To Cleanse: With dry hands, apply a layer of gel onto dry skin. Wet fingertips to emulsify as gel transforms into a milky cream, rinse with warm water. Follow with a splash of cool water to close pores.

So obviously this has the coolest texture ever. An oil based jelly balm with a holographic purple rainbow. Its not a greasy balm, it feels like a nice smooth oil jelly. As an oil balm it removes makeup, but it also emulsifies and rinses clean like a typical gel oil balm cleanser. Normally I prefer a gel oil balm as a morning cleanser but I will use it as a night cleanser on days when I don’t wear makeup.

Sunflower and jojoba are great lightweight oils. Rice bran is soothing to the skin. Sea lavender is new to me but looks like it has antioxidant properties as well. Honeysuckle has natural antibacterial properties, but it’s also got flavonoids and saponins which protect against free radicals. I love the base of this jelly cleanser. These are my favorite types of cleansers hands down.

So onto the micro glitter. At first I thought it was shimmer as it looks very fine. I personally don’t like glitter in skincare, though I know it’s a trend right now. Glitter has the potential to cause micro abrasions from scratching the skin. I will completely avoid large glitter skincare. This one looked so fine I figured it would be OK. Plus it’s a gel oil balm and I’m weak to them.

When I used it in the mornings I felt no irritation whatsoever from the glitter. I just tried it as a night cleanser and I felt some abrasions while cleansing. Nothing big, but it was there. I used an acid serum right after and there was no burning so it’s not bad abrasions, very minor. But it’s there. I think at night we tend to really rub a cleanser into our skin to remove makeup more than in the morning. That’s probably why I noticed the difference between night and day use. So I think this is best left as a morning cleanse where you won’t rub it into the skin as hard.

I completely adore the base of this jelly oil balm cleanser. I would buy it over and over again if the glitter was a bit finer just so I can avoid the scratching. I’ll use this tub up as a morning cleanse no issue. I’m unsure if I will repurchase again. It’s easily the coolest gel oil balm cleanser I’ve used in a long time. It’s fun just for the novelty effect.
