Bioderma Matricium

I’ve been using Bioderma Sensibo for removing my eye makeup for years. I have to admit I haven’t really branched into their skincare products that much. I was very intrigued by the Bioderma Matricium product after seeing it on Instagram. Details per Bioderma (This is a very technical product so lots of details):

Indications Damaged skin with superficial cutaneous lesions caused by dermatological procedures, laser treatments, peelings or incisions or with first-degree burns. Localised cutaneous irritation (sun, wind, cold, hormonal disturbances).

  • Moisturises and protects

Good to Know Sterile single doses (30 x 1ml), Preservative-free, Paraben-free, Fragrance-free, Alcohol-free, High tolerance and safety, Hypoallergenic, Non-comedogenic.

Mode of Action

  • MATRICIUM recreates an ideal cellular environment so that the skin regains its own regeneration capacities. It is exclusively made of elements that are naturally found in the skin and are essential to cell life, function and regeneration.  The skin recovers its original biological function and is recharged with all the resources it needs for real cutaneous regeneration.
  • Benefiting from a UNIQUE STATUS, MATRICIUM is not a cosmetic or medicinal product but rather a MEDICAL DEVICE. Its 100% biomimetic formula is defined in accordance with pharmaceutical industry standards and guarantees top-level dermatological safety.

Directions Use one single dose for one application twice a day (morning and evening) until your skin’s condition has completely improved.

This product peaked my interest because it’s intended for use when your skin is inflamed or irritated. My skin doesn’t get irritated or inflamed all that often but I wanted to see what it can do. As you can see this comes packaged in 30 one ml sterile vials. They’re supposed to be single use but I get about 2.5 uses out of each vial. The top is easily replaceable on the vial to store until you finish it. The vials come with an expiration date on them. This is a dermatological level skincare product and sadly it’s not available in the US. You have to purchase from an international retailer or eBay.

The product has a thin water like texture and no scent I can discern. This absorbs instantly and I use it as the first step in my routine after cleansing & toning. I use this twice a day if I’m really looking for help with some irritation or inflammation. I typically don’t need that much help and just use this at night. I used Matricium every night during the winter once the artificial heat came on. It helped keep my skin from getting as irritated as it normally does from winter heat. I also used Matricium after acid masking or that rare time my skin was mad at me to soothe, calm and help repair.

Matricium does more than just soothe, calm, help reduce irritations and inflammation. It also helps the skin regenerate. Matricium contains nutrients found on the skin naturally so it helps replenish and restore balance to the skin which helps soothe and give skin cells the optimum ability to regenerate.

Matricium is very complex and contains hydrators like sodium hyaluronate plus antioxidants. This product is rich in amino acids & precursors to amino acids like serine, arginine hcl, valine & lysine (there are more but no need to list them all, you get the idea). Matricium also contains natural sugars like glucose (essential to all cell functions) & mannitol. Fructo-Oligosaccharides is a short chain of fructose molecules (natural sugar) that is said to help with dermatitis and inflammation. There’s also various minerals like zinc sulfate, magnesium chloride & copper sulfate.

This seemingly complex product is innovative yet simple. Matricium puts naturally occurring nutrients back onto the skin to help with regeneration and soothe irritation & inflammation. Think of it as a nutritional supplement for the cells in your skin. This product doesn’t come cheap. I grabbed this set off of eBay, but I know some have had success purchasing at cocooncenter & frenchcosmeticsforless.
