Charlotte Tilbury Brightening Youth Glow

You all know I can’t help myself when Charlotte Tilbury releases something new. I’ve been a huge fan since I was able to get my hands on it in the UK. She’s a makeup genius. The newest release is the Brightening Youth Glow Primer. Details per Charlotte Tilbury:

The texture is actually quite light. A light gel cream style primer much like Wonderglow. The scent is very faint like rose. Nothing strong or irritating. This primer has a light gel cream texture that won’t add anything heavy to your makeup routine. Unlike Wonderglow this one sets to a more satin finish. Wonderglow is more dewy. One thing I absolutely love about this Brightening Youth Glow is that while it contains silicones, it feels so light and not like I would expect. It never made my makeup feel heavy or greasy & I haven’t experienced any breakouts like I do with some silicone primers. On the contrary this is a light feeling primer that gives the perfect satin feel.

Brightening Youth Glow has really fine white and pink shimmer (mostly white) to give your skin a touch of brightening and glow. Like Wonderglow this is a subtle shimmer and glow, no highlighter style bling here. It’s perfect for just adding a touch of luminosity to the skin with a satin finish that blurs pores and imperfections away. It also will help hold your foundation in place longer while not adding any weight to your makeup. That part I love.

I found this non-drying. This primer also has lots of skin loving ingredients like squalane, niacinamide, oat kernel extract which is soothing, vitamin E, aloe, sodium hyaluronate, rosehip oil, sunflower seed oil, glycerin, Rosa damascena oil, frangipani, chamomile flower oil & allantoin (soothing). Hydrolyzed candida saitoana extract is an extract from fungi that encourages the cells natural detox process. Camellia oil is an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory & has some antiseptic/antimicrobial properties. Chlorella vulgaris/lupinus albus protein ferment (white lupin extract fermented with algae). Supposed to be an antioxidant and skin firming ferment. Watercress has high amount of vitamin C & A. It was hard to find scientific information saying watercress does lighten the skin by blocking melanin production as claimed. Pichia/Resveratrol ferment extract which is pretty much fermented resveratrol. Fermentation is said to make ingredients more potent and easily absorbable. Nicotiana sylvestris leaf cell culture (woodland tobacco leaf) is high in amino acids glycine, proline and hydroxyproline, the most abundant in mammalian collagen. So it has anti-aging properties.

I used this daily for about two weeks. Not long enough to notice any lightening from the watercress. I have a hard time using a primer daily for a long time. I like using a primer that compliments my foundation that day so I tend to change it up a lot. I did stick it out for two weeks with this one though. I didn’t experience any side effects like break outs. I loved how light and smooth it was. It gave a nice luminous glow, blurred pores all with a nice non-drying satin finish.
