December Boxwalla Subscription Box x Earthwise Beauty

Boxwalla as you all know is pretty much my all time favorite subscription box. It's a bi-monthly subscription box and December is all about Earthwise Beauty. I'm no stranger to Earthwise Beauty as it's a brand I already know and love. The December box features the new Yasuni Face Balm & reformulated Resiliency Face Serum. I just wanted to picture the gorgeous packaging that Earthwise Beauty products come in when shipped. They wrap them in cardboard sleeves with gorgeous designs. Some come in boxes but I love their sleeves. Earthwise Beauty recently went through a repackaging and revamping/reformulation of the line. I really enjoyed the makeover and I love the new sleek design.

I actually already had the Yasuni Face Balm as I bought it when it launched. Details per Earthwise Beauty:

Yasuni is based on fruit oils that have particularly high and wide-ranging phytonutrient levels and enzymatic action. This balm works similarly to a retinol on the skin, exfoliating and resurfacing it, but with none of the irritation, redness, or peeling often caused by actual retinol products. It is also an ideal balm for healing acne and reducing blackheads and oil production. Yasuni is named after the Yasuni National Park in Ecuador.

As we mentioned above, the star feature of this balm is its enzymatic mild exfoliation from fruit oils alone. The açai oil exfoliates and resurfaces the skin similarly to a retinol product, but being a fruit oil, it doesn't overexfoliate or cause redness or intense peeling. Even more retinol-like action is supplied by the buriti oil, which is exceptionally high in betacarotenes. The enzymes keep sebum oil production in check, so oily skin types become more balanced and are not shiny at the end of the day, and the appearance of blackheads is greatly reduced over time.

The deep green, whole-fruit açai fruit oil we've sourced is also the acne sufferer's dream come true: this very light, extract-like oil heals and dries up acne due to its enzymes and high vitamin C content, and unlike most other effective acne ingredients, it is nonirritating. The açai oil's anti-acne action is supported by the astringent kokum butter (cold extracted from mangosteen kernels), which helps to minimize pores, speed healing of acne breakouts, and promote skin firmness.

A few plant butters and other oils worth highlighting are the hydrating marula oil and cupuaçu butter, firming tucuma butter, deeply penetrating bacuri butter, sun-damage-correcting raspberry oil, and revitalizing cranberry oil.

This balm is quite unique and amazing. It's thin and harder in texture but it melts immediately on contact with the skin. It's not greasy or heavy at all. On the contrary it's quite light yet also super nourishing at the same time. My favorite part about this balm beyond the texture is that it's essential oil free which is hard to find in balms. So if you're sensitive or reactive at all you want to check this balm out. I can't say what it does any better than Earthwise Beauty did above. The balm has an amazing light texture suitable for everyone, it's unique, packed full of antioxidants, uses cold pressed butters and oils (higher quality of nutrients) and it has an enzymatic action. Yasuni also has green coffee seed oil which is my ingredient obsession of the year. In short, it's a fantastic balm and one of my favorite balms I've tried to date. It retails for $110 alone and you get the balm for $49.95 if you subscribe.

Resiliency Face Serum is the new name for the revamped Carrot-a-Day serum. Details per Earthwise Beauty:

This is our ultimate take (well, ultimate for now) on an anti-aging serum with incredible youth-returning and brown-spot-reducing powers in an ultra-light, fresh, aloe-gel format. This formula is one of our bestselling products of all time (its previous name was Carrot-a-Day Face and Eye Serum, Classic). Customers often write to tell us how much they love this serum for its ability to fix nearly everything, from immediate smoothing, firming, depuffing, and brightening to its long-term effects, such as decreasing skin discolorations and scars.

This formula is incredibly light, yet powerfully effective, with a wealth of healing properties. The rejuvenating serum has strong anti-aging, brown-spot-reducing, and sun-damage-preventing properties, and works to return a youthful appearance to the skin. Resiliency removes puffiness, heals and reduces acne, reduces fine wrinkles, and lifts and firms the skin for an instantly pulled-together appearance. It can also be used as an eye serum by those who can tolerate more active ingredients on their under-eye skin: it instantly firms and depuffs the under-eye area, and because the light formula absorbs quickly, it works well under makeup.

The main active ingredient here is carrot seed essential oil, one of the most effective yet very gentle skin-tissue-regenerating ingredients, which also contains natural sun-blocking and sun-damage-preventing and -correcting properties.

We have added anti-inflammatory German blue chamomile to reduce any possible skin irritation and redness, as well as helichrysum (Italian everlasting). We often combine more than one type of helichrysum, as each type has a slightly different chemical composition and aroma. In this formula we have used a blend of Croatian and Bosnian helichrysums, to offer a broad spectrum of healing components and a more complex scent while remaining committed to using eco-friendly and sustainable ingredients. (We are no longer using Corsican helichrysum due to concerns about overharvesting in the region.) Helichrysum is one of the top essential oils for scar and other spot reduction and for wrinkle reversal, and is also used in wound and burn healing by medical aromatherapists.

The high content of top-quality, truly minimally processed aloe (found after months of search and testing) plus a touch of spearmint offer a slightly cooling and definitely de-puffing quality.

So I tried a sample of this serum when it was Carrot-a-Day and blue. I really enjoy its light and refreshing gel serum texture. I find it hydrating and firming. It even has a bit of a cooling sensation which gives it the refreshing feel from the spearmint oil. Again I can't say what it does any better than Earthwise Beauty did above. It has anti-inflammatory action from the blue chamomile & immortelle. I love the regenerating and antioxidant benefits of carrot seed oil. It's rich in beta carotene and vitamins A, E and pro-vitamin A. The best part about this serum is the plumping, firming and refreshing/de-puffing action. I don't like that it comes in a jar and it smells like vodka. It has a really strong scent that honestly when I tried the sample I couldn't bring myself to buy a big one. Only for that reason. I've gotten used to it some after using this for three weeks but it's still hard to take. I know a ton of people love this serum and love the effects. I heard it's packaged in a jar because Ava says the customers asked for this so they could get every last drop out. My preference would be a pump and I would rather just open it to bang out the last remnants versus sticking my finger in a jar. But that's personal preference-some prefer a jar, some a pump.
