Purearth Turmeric Sand & Wild Seaberry Supercritical Oil

Purearth is an Indian brand founded on Ayurveda principles. Ayurveda is an ancient philosophy developed in India. It’s the oldest holistic type of healing system and a balance between mind, body and spirit. Ayurveda is the balance of three elemental energies or doshas: vāta (air & space), pitta (fire & water) and kapha (water & earth). I actually grew up with these principles as my grandmother is a Kinesiologist and I had a very holistic natural upbringing. I will admit I kind of got away from them after I went into Western medicine and became a nurse. So it’s nice to get reminded about them again and focus on a more holistic approach combining modern and ancient philosophies.

Purearth has some snippets about what each dosha means in a skincare presentation. You can read the full descriptions HERE.

Vata This skin type has both air and space as its predominant elements. The skin is cool to the touch yet very fine and delicate. Those who belong to the vata skin type can develop early signs of ageing on their skin. It is also highly at risk of developing various conditions such as skin fungus and eczema. To prevent such problems, make sure to get enough sleep at night and eliminate sources of mental worry and stress.

Pitta In this type of skin, both fire and water are dominant elements. Individuals with pitta skin are mostly fair with a soft, warm glow. This type of skin complexion could also have freckles and moles on the surface. It could put one at risk of developing various diseases such as rosacea, liver spots, pigmentation, rashes, and acne. Due to the fire element, pitta skin does not tolerate excessive sunlight exposure well.

Kapha This particular skin type is characterized by predominant water and earth elements. It is cool, oily, and soft with a luminous complexion. Unlike vata skin types, individuals with kapha skin naturally develop wrinkles at a later stage of life. However, individuals with kapha skin are at risk of developing oily skin due to its enlarged pores, acne, pimples, blackheads, and water retention.

You can see the mustard yellow color and it has a very earthy scent much like turmeric. You mix the powder with water, milk, honey or yogurt to make a paste. The paste comes out very thick. You can just use this as an exfoliating paste. It has a rough texture that’s not abrasive. You can also let this sit as a mask then use it as an exfoliating paste for some extra glow. I love the healing and anti-inflammatory benefits of turmeric and I really wanted to love this. I am just way too lazy to use a do it yourself mask. I need mine premixed in a jar. Love the concept and what you’ll get out of it, just not for me. I think the Mitti Clay Face Masque is more my style and I’ll have to look into buying that one some day. If you like DIY face masks and like to concoct your own potions, you’ll like this. It got fabulous ingredients that will help detox and heal the skin.

Ingredients 100% HIMALAYAN SEABUCKTHORNBERRY OIL, AND LOVE.

I love this facial oil. It’s got a beautiful one ingredient inci list. Look at that golden red hue, just amazing. It has a medium weight texture it’s not the lightest facial oil & it’s more nourishing. I liked to use this in my night routine. Seabuckthorn oil is super high in antioxidants plus it contains rarer omega 7 fatty acids. It’s rich in vitamins A, C & E and carotenoids like beta carotene (gives this oil its orange hue). Seabuckthorn oil does also have omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids in addition to 7. It helps the skin repair itself and helps boost collagen production. It also gives a nice glow to the skin.

The supercritical part comes from the way they extract the oil. It’s extracted using a solvent free method like CO2 not using steam or distilling. The oils extracted this way have a closer composition to the natural plant versus when extracted by other means. This oil in particular has such a stunning rich red orange hue. I really really liked this oil. It can stain your pillowcase if you apply too much or don’t wait long enough for it to absorb into the skin before bed. That’s about the only thing I can say about it that’s not stellar. It’s a phenomenal oil with such a rich profile of benefits. Purearth also has a few other blends of supercritical oils that look nice if you prefer more of an oil blend.
