RODIN Olio Lusso Mermaid Collection

I will admit I never tried RODIN Olio Lusso prior to seeing this gorgeous Mermaid collection pop up on Nordstrom. I grabbed three pieces from it as it was such an interesting collection. Read about the inspiration below.

Linda, a Pisces with an affinity for the sea, believed she’d been a mermaid in a previous life. Her fantasy sparked artist-friend Donald Robertson’s interest so much that he put his paintbrushes to work and brought the RODIN Mermaid Collection to life.

The Illuminating Liquid is a liquid highlighter in a shimmering golden seashell pink shade. This has the most amazing luxe glass packaging with a pump dispenser. I am so in love with the design printed on the bottle. This can be used as a straight up liquid highlighter on the cheekbones and wherever you want to glow. You can use this as a primer to get a little blurring action from the shimmer under your foundation. Or you can mix this with your foundation for a more natural all over shimmering glow. This is pretty pigmented and I liked the formula.

A luxurious liquid luminizer. A bit of RODIN brilliance made possible through an exquisite blend of micro-fine light-reflecting optics. The more skin you show, the more you want that skin to glow. Welcome to weightless incandescence. It may be all you need for a healthy summer glow. But it’s so utterly weightless you can use alone, or with your moisturizer or foundation for an instant radiance boost.

Directions Dispense a small pump to fingertips. Apply wherever you want summer highlights – cheekbones, bridge of nose, cupid’s bow, décolletage. Pat gently into skin with fingertips or makeup sponge.

The Illuminating Powder is the most divine highlighting power. It’s my favorite from the collection. The sea inspired design is so beautiful it almost makes you not want to use it.

The clear plastic case has a sea themed design on the cover. The powder has a very finely milled gel powder texture. The lavender pink swirls with a warm bronze to create a shimmering neutral lilac pink nude highlight that’s very flattering. This is pigmented and strong so start light and build it up. This won’t give you that extremely strong bling or frosty finish. It’s just a nice pigmented shimmering highlight. It looks very natural on the skin and I’m obsessed with it. If you grab one thing from this collection this is it.

The Lip Oil is a hydrating lip oil with a sheer seashell pink glimmering shade.

A luxurious, lightweight lip oil in a universally flattering shade. Perfect on its own or over a favorite lipstick. Supple, kissable lips. It’s the look every girl craves…so we created one glistening shade, perfect for everyone. To achieve all that, RODIN focuses its oil expertise on a formula that glides onto lips and leaves them nourished and comforted. Rich in Vitamin E, Sunflower Oil, Olive Fruit Oil, Safflower Seed Oil, and Jojoba Seed Oil, yet remarkably lightweight.

The lip oil is sheer so don’t expect a lot of color. This has the same golden seashell pink tint as the liquid highlight. This has a flattened oval sponge applicator. The lip oil has a nice ingredient list and it’s nourishing on first application. There’s no real scent or taste to it, just the natural oils. As with all lip oils it wears off quickly is reapplication frequently is a must. I don’t really find lip oils hydrating in the long run. They quench at first but at the end of the day my lips feel more dehydrated. Now in general I love a lip oil under a balm to seal it in. As this is a color shade that would be hard to do. It’s the one item from the collection I think you could skip. Though it is very pretty to look at.
