I feel like I’m always on a quest to find the best hand cream and lip balm. There’s always two categories I’m looking for: day and night. I was on a Sisley kick about a year ago, and on a whim I decided to try Sisley Paris Confort Extreme Nutritive Lip Balm. I was pleasantly surprised and this has now become my favorite night lip balm.
Per Sisley’s website: “The lips are very fine and contain no sebaceous glands, making them highly sensitive, easily irritated, and more prone to dryness and weakening from outside aggressions (cold, wind, sun…). The Nutritive Lip Balm formula is rich in soothing, emollient and protective lipids to provide lips with moisture and protection. The melting texture is naturally colored by its own ingredients and leaves the lips feeling comfortable and supple. A combination of oils (hazelnut, plum kernel, sunflower), shea butter and kokum butter help to: Give a sensation of comfort, Re-hydrate and plump the lips, Repair and restore lipid levels, Form a protective film against outside aggressions. This formula contains no artificial colors or fragrances, to ensure optimal tolerance.”
The retail is $74 for a 0.3 oz pot. I was thinking this was a terribly overpriced buy at first, but it has really grown on me. It lasts a lot longer than I thought it would. The balm is yellow in the pot, but goes on clear. It has no scent or taste I can discern. This looks like Vaseline, but it’s thicker, has less slip. It’s not the same at all. This lasts longer and has a slight tackiness, in a good way, that makes it last most the night.
I have replaced my Nuxe Reve de Miel (this was my staple night balm) with this. While I only use this as a night balm, it could be used as a day balm if you have dry or chapped lips. I wouldn’t put it under lipstick as it’s too thick for that. I highly recommend this lip balm. I know it’s pricey, but it’s really worth it. It’s really moisturizing, it works and it lasts a long time.
