Hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving week if you're in the US. It was nice to take a few days off and not get on here to write anything. I've definitely been focusing on more winter style scents and products these last few weeks. I'm just starting to get into the Raw Spirit fragrance line. I've been wearing Winter Oak for the last week as it seemed appropriate. I love that the line is all natural. Inspired by walking the oak-lined trails of the Chumash Lands of California on cool winter mornings, when crushed oak leaves and twigs release their rich scent. Described as aged American oak and layers of suede, saffron, premium Haitian vetiver and musk. It's that deep smoky, earthy scent perfect for winter. Definitely unisex. I need to play more with the three I have before I review the line, so more to come.
With drier weather and artificial heat also comes drier skin, especially on my feet and heels. I've been slathering the Peach & Lily KBeauty Rescue Balm on my heels before bed. The concoction of sunflower oil, turmeric, gotu kola, ceramide np and other oils/waxes help soften and hydrate all night long. Rub into your dry elbows or cracked hands for some extra relief during the winter. Speaking of rich potions for the body I've been totally obsessed with the new KHUS + KHUS Rasa Restorative Potion which is so rich and nourishing yet not too heavy or greasy. I've been reaching for it a ton. It's got a dream inci list with reishi and chaga mushroom, yuzu, prickly pear and hemp butters, plus CBD. It's so perfect for winter and you probably won't see me stop talking about it until it's gone.
I played with the new Tom Ford Traceless Touch Foundation Cushion Compact all week. The luxury cushion is sadly only in Asia and the UK right now (I got mine of Selfridges). The compact is refillable. Shade Bisque was a good match for me and it seems to be the only shade in stock at the moment. It's lightweight, not greasy, gives light skin like coverage with fairly good longevity. It's the most similar to the Armani cushion, I find the La Mer and La Prairie have a higher more fluid foundation like coverage. This one is great for a light coverage person like myself. Plus it's Tom Ford. ESPA Fitness Shower Oil has just become a fast favorite of mine. West Indian bay, clove bud & lavender give this the most spicy herbal scent. I'm totally addicted. It's warm and really has a holiday feel, plus it helps soothe and erase tensions.
I got to try the Savor Beauty Pumpkin Seed Serum. The texture is so divine. It's got rosehip, pumpkin (one of my favorites), meadowfoam, sunflower, lavender, carrot, comfrey & fennel. I love that the lavender is not too strong. This is a medium weight oil that's not heavy or greasy at all. I really enjoyed the texture. I don't feature my all time favorite cotton squares enough but I should. Klairs Toner Mate 2 in 1 Cotton Pad is a huge staple. I discovered them last year and never went back to Shiseido (my old staple cotton pad). Half are a spongy pad that's great for thicker liquids like slippery essences, half are a pressed cotton that's so thin it doesn't eat up all your liquid toner. I saved so much toner and product by switching to these pads. I love having a spongy type pad that keeps my slippery thick essences from sliding off a typical cotton pad. Both never leave any fibers on your face, so no shredding like a cotton ball or cheap cotton pad. Plus you'll save some toner and have less waste.
