Makeup Haul: Part 1

I feel like I've been in a makeup rut lately. Totally uninterested in most new launches and I was mostly just using the makeup I had (since I'll never run out anyway). For some reason I got inspired last month and grabbed some new things. I had kind of a big makeup haul. Some were new launches some were things I just had never discovered. I bought everything from Sephora during the sale, Nordstrom, SpaceNK and Selfridges.

First up is the SUQQU Pure Color Blush Kousai. This is from the Summer collection. 'Using gradation to create extra-pure colouration and clear radiance, cult Japanese brand SUQQU has introduced new limited-edition shades in to its Pure Colour Blush collection for 2017. Formulated with translucent, finely-grained powder particles, it shows pure, true and vibrant on skin as the shades gradate from a subtle glow to a rich hue. An infusion of a generous amount of emollient oils allows a smooth, non-powdery finish'. SUQQU hands down makes some of the best powder eyeshadows and blushes. I just add new ones in when they launch them with their collections. This one is a shimmering trio with a warm bronze russet shade, neutral bronze pink and cooler lilac pink. I mix them all together for a shimmering sunkissed bronze flush. This gives a nice faux sunburnt look which I love. It's pretty pigmented so start light and build the color up. You can see my original post about the formula HERE.

One of my all time favorite makeup brands is Surratt Beauty. Surratt just launched a new Torche Lumiere Highlighter and I grabbed the champagne shade Diamante. There's three shades a champagne, pink and warm gold. Details per Beautylish:

If the face is like a jewel, highlighters emphasize its facets. Inspired by the sparkling gems in the vitrines at the Place Vendôme in Paris, Torche Lumiere Highlighter from Surratt Beauty brings a luminous, multifaceted glow to your complexion. Formulated with real gold and diamond dust, Torche Lumiere creates a richly pigmented highlight with a sophisticated sheen. The velvety-smooth cream formula blends seamlessly into the skin to emphasize the curves and contours of your face.

This has the same green and purple sparkle over-spray on the case that I love from the brand. The formula has a dry touch velvety feel. Diamante is a cooler or neutral pale champagne sparkle. It's pretty sparkly but not glittery. It's not a strong frosty metallic or really pigmented highlighter, this just adds a nice wash of luminous sparkle that can be built up for more intensity. The creamy formula does dry down and lasts all day. I'm totally obsessed with it. It's such a nice grown up and sophisticated sparkle that can only be done by Troy Surratt.

The Chanel Ombre Premiere Longwear Cream Eyeshadow is one of my favorite creamy formulations because it lasts all day long with no creasing. It has a drier finish to it and doesn't budge all day long. It's amazing. Patine Bronze is a new shade and it's a perfect antiqued bronze shade. I'm totally smitten. I pair this with Silver Pink for a nude look with serious staying power, sparkle and depth. My review of the formula is HERE. If you like cream eyeshadow but hate creasing and ones that fade early then this is the one for you.

Stila is not a brand I have used in years. I used to be obsessed with their lip glosses until I stopped wearing lip gloss. I don't know when they launched the Heaven's Hue Highlighter but apparently it's really good and I've been living under a rock since I never noticed it. Kitten is an intensely shimmering pink nude highlighter. The formula is amazing. It has that featherweight dry touch gel to powder finish with an almost bouncy feel to it. The pigmentation is really good. It can be very intense or a bit lighter if you apply with a light hand. This lasts all day and you'll never be able to use the huge amount of product it comes with so it's a great deal.

Supergoop! launched some SPF containing cream eyeshadows and I was for sure intrigued. The Shimmershade Illuminating Cream Eyeshadows has an SPF of 30. I grabbed the darkest shade Sunset which looked like a bronze brown. I've never seen anyone make a sunscreen eyeshadow in the recommended minimum of SPF 30 so it's a great idea. Plus they're pretty cheap. Sunset is a warmer bronze but still neutral enough for me. It applies well and is creamy but not too greasy or slippery. I was thinking it was a go for me but it creases. I would've taken that and still used it even though I hate creasing because it's such an important concept but the color changes on me. It's so weird. It swatches and starts as a neutral mid-tone brown but then morphed into an orange based bronze after a few hours. Like some weird oxidation or something. I don't like orange toned bronzes at all anymore so I just couldn't get it to work for me, even over primer. Such a shame. Maybe one day they'll launch a cooler mid-tone taupe and that will work for me.

Pat McGrath FetishEyes Mascara launched recently and I just had to try it. 'A fetish-worthy mascara that dramatically lifts, lengthens, and seamlessly builds for lethally-luxe lashes that defy gravity—like lash extensions in a tube.' The tube is so lightweight and I love that it's got a traditional style brush head (no silicone). I love volumizing formulas that give definition as well, they're my weakness. This has a very black tone. It lengthens and gives volume with lift and separation. It doesn't get clumpy or anything on me so far. This doesn't leave a lot of product on the brush when you pull it out and it has a little drier feel (not too dry though). It's also buildable without getting too cakey. This does last through a general work day (12 hours) with no issues like flaking.

YSL Touche Eclat Shimmer Stick Rose Gold is a new and I'm smitten already. This has a featherweight dry touch texture plus a faint almost watermelon scent. I'm a huge creamy rose gold highlighter addict. Add in the classic YSL brand, plus everyone loves the Touche Eclat line, with the perfect shade and a lightweight velvet dry touch formula and you have a winner. This lasts all day on me and looks natural. It's easily buildable. The buildable shimmer is perfection plus it's not glittery or frosty at all. There are four shades total to suit your mood.

I've always wanted to try a RODIN colored lipstick and Nordstrom finally got them in. RODIN Luxe Lipstick in Heavenly Hopp seemed like the best nude pink shade for me out of the range. This is a cream shade with no shimmer. It's got a nice creamy satin finish. Heavenly Hopp is like a light medium peach nude rose. This lipstick has quite a few nice ingredients in it, even coffee seed extract which you know I adore. The clear square case is kind of mod and fun. It's also got no real scent or taste which is actually nice. So far I'm liking this lipstick choice.
