Rahua Freestyle Texturizer: Review

I love Rahua products. They’re all natural, and all the products smell amazing. Most have this warm nutty scent from the signature scent & Rahua oil. They recently launched a new Freestyler Texturizer so I snagged it. I will admit I thought it was a spray at first, but it’s a cream texturizing product. Our highly-effective and flexible Freestyle Texturizer is the perfect choice for creating styles with effortless texture, body and hold. A natural, high-performance alternative to synthetic stylers, made with the most exclusive, plant-derived ingredients from the Amazon rainforest. Details per Sephora & Rahua:

What it is:
A natural, high-performance styling product for effortless texture without the need to blow-dry.

Key benefits:
– Creates loose, tousled locks
– Simplifies styling
– No need to blow-dry

This product comes housed in a plastic pump. The product is a thicker white cream with a slightly fluffy mousse like texture. The scent is as described above, warm nutty and pleasant. It’s light. This is more dense than a traditional mousse. It’s not silky like a serum, it’s got a slightly sticky texture. It’s not too sticky & the texture really adds hold.

I’m a lover of all texture sprays and products that you don’t have to use a blow dryer for. I own a blow dryer, but I use it once a year maybe. I love the texture of a salt spray but it’s nice to also have other products that add that piecey, wavy look without the salt and drying my hair out. I want products that are easy to use and don’t require more than five minutes.

This product had to grow on me. I didn’t like it at first. I felt it was too heavy and sticky. I didn’t understand how to use it at first. It also feels very sticky hen you first apply while your hair is wet. When your hair dries this goes away a good deal. You end up with messy texture but it’s not too sticky. It gives you the hold of a light pomade from the wax, the conditioning of an oil, and the volume piecey look of a salt spray or similar mousse. Your hair can look like you just rolled out of bed, but better.

Funny how we spend money now to make our hair look like we rolled out of bed. However, I need a little texture and hold in my fine hair or it’s just it too blah and limp. Add a small amount of this all over focusing more on the mid length to ends. Maybe a dime to nickel size amount. Then add a little more in from the roots to ends on the front portions of your hair. And don’t be afraid if it feels sticky at first, it will dry out some. It always has a bit of a sticky wax feel to it because it’s a waxy cream product. It’s not like a salt spray that dries and evaporates.

All I can say is experiment, play with different ways to apply it and don’t give up for the first week if you’re on the fence. Try it for at least two weeks. I learned to love it once I figured it out. I like it better than texture mousses now. I love the hold it gives as it lasts all day. Other texture products can fall flat by the end of the day.

Suggested Usage

-Simply apply to damp or dry hair directly to the roots for volume, to the ends for texture, or throughout to “Freestyle” your hair.
-Tip: flip your hair over to one side and work the product into the roots and the underside of hair. Flip hair back over and apply again to small sections at the ends only, twisting and working into hair to create a piecey texture.
