Tata Harper Nourishing Oil Cleanser: Review

I love quite a few things by Tata Harper. Sometimes I forget to write about the basic things like this cleanser that I’ve been using for a year or two. Double cleansing and even just oil based cleansing has taken the world by storm the last few years. Ten years ago it never would have even crossed my mind to use an oil cleanser. Oil based cleansers are good for multiple reasons: they don’t strip the skin while cleansing, they remove makeup better than a non-oil based cleanser and they are great as the first part of a double cleanser for that reason. The idea is that oil cleansers dissolves oil based makeup better than water or cream trying to dissolve oil based makeup.

I was completely skeptical about the idea of an oil based cleanser at first. I thought for sure it would break me out and why bother with this trend. A double cleanse is using an oil based cleanser first to remove makeup, then using a water or creamy based cleanser second to remove the daily pollution and detox the skin better. I have been using the double cleanse routine at night for about 3 years or more now and I absolutely love it. My skin looks great using this method. Tata Harper’s Nourishing Oil Cleanser was one of my first oil cleansers, and it’s still one of my favorites.

It comes packaged in a lovely green glass bottle with pump. You get 4.1 oz for $72. Details per Tata Harper:

This effective formula dissolves makeup and daily impurities from skin’s surface, thoroughly cleansing the skin with a silky blend of biocompatible oils and esters, while leaving the moisture barrier intact. Leaves a soft, refreshed, non-greasy feeling.Thoroughly cleanses while providing vitamins and nutrients.

Benefits

  • Effectively removes makeup without stripping the skin.
  • Thoroughly cleanses with vitamins and nutrients.
  • Moisturizes skin and preserves hydration.

You rub this onto dry skin then rinse off with water. It feels like a heavy body oil. It’s yellow gold in color and has that typical Tata Harper scent–Earthy, floral and essential oil like. It doesn’t rinse clean off with water, but does come off easily when followed with a second creamy or gel cleanser. I like following this one with Tata Harper’s Purifying Cleanser in the summer.

This removes makeup easily without stripping the skin. I’ve never broken out from using this oil cleanser. I do always follow it with a light creamy or gel style cleanser. This needs to be followed with a second lighter cleanser. Double cleansing is really the best way to be able to use those light gel or creamy cleanser that don’t remove makeup well but are so nice to use. This is my favorite oil cleanser I’ve tried to date.
