Tom Ford Waterproof Foundation & Concealer Bisque: Review & Swatches

I’ve been playing with the new Tom Ford Waterproof Foundation/Concealer for a while. Might as well start with official details per Tom Ford’s website:

A FLAWLESS COMPLEXION IS ESSENTIAL TO THE TOM FORD FACE. TOM FORD’S FIRST FULL-COVERAGE, WATERPROOF FORMULA CONCEALS FLAWS AS BOTH A COMFORTABLE, BREATHABLE FOUNDATION WITH A NATURALLY RADIANT FINISH AND AN EFFECTIVE CONCEALER THAT HIDES NOTICEABLE IMPERFECTIONS FROM DARKNESS UNDER THE EYES TO BLEMISHES ON THE SKIN.

THIS HYBRID FORMULA WITHSTANDS HARSH WEATHER CONDITIONS SUCH AS HEAT, HUMIDITY AND WATER WHILE MAINTAINING AN EVEN COMPLEXION. HELPS MINIMIZE THE APPEARANCE OF TATTOOS AND PORT STAINS.

USAGE:  APPLY ON CLEAN MOISTURIZED SKIN WITH FINGERTIPS, BRUSH OR SPONGE APPLICATOR.

This is an amazingly light foundation for being full coverage. The texture is thin, very pigmented and buildable. I normally hate full coverage long wearing foundations because they’re too matte, drying and heavy. This is none of those. It’s a satin finish, thin textured, non drying formula. It’s very long wearing. I get minimal fading even in high humidity.

The cons are it can emphasize dry patches and can settle a little into larger pores by the end of the day. It’s also $82 for 1 oz, so it’s pricey. Pros are it’s a thin texture, buildable, long wearing, natural finish, no heavy feel, not drying, no strong scent and waterproof. It really is waterproof. You can run water over it and it beads off. It removes best with an oil based cleanser. I experienced no adverse effects like break outs or irritation while using.

Start slow with this one, it’s easy to over do it. Use a small amount and add more in the areas you need it. It’s potent stuff. I used my fingers, a brush and beauty blender to apply. They all work. It depends on how you like the finish to be. A brush buffs it in well, fingers are quick and easy. A beauty blender gives the most flawless finish but requires more time. I can get medium coverage with this if I use less and sheer it out. It’s medium to full coverage.

I found shade Bisque 5.5 was perfect for me. Bisque is a warm golden toned light medium beige. It’s deeper than a NC 25. It’s not quite NC 30. It’s in-between. This gives a natural finish that lasts all day. It’s quite impressive with it’s thin texture. If you want a long wearing all day medium to full coverage foundation with a lightweight thin texture, check it out. I live in a very hot humid climate, South Texas. It holds up well here and has been on heavy rotation since buying.
