WHAMISA by Glow Recipe Chai Tea Serum-in-Cream & Eye Cream

As you all know by now I love K Beauty and Glow Recipe is one of my favorite K Beauty shops. Glow Recipe teamed up with WHAMISA, a leading organic K Beauty brand, to create another round of products after the Green Tea launch. The Chai Tea line has two products-an eye cream & serum-in-cream or gel cream.

The Chai Tea Serum-in-Cream is a more fluid gel cream. It’s not your typical pot style thicker gel cream. I love that it comes in a pump. Details per Glow Recipe:

A revitalizing, age-defying serum and cream in one that helps plump fine lines and firm the appearance of skin. Infused with real, antioxidant-rich tea extracts, the Whamisa by Glow Recipe Chai Tea Serum-in-Cream is based in Rooibos Tea for youthfully glowing skin. Hydrate and nourish skin while helping diminish fine lines and wrinkles with soothing, healing Propolis and brightening, texture-refining Turmeric.

Our first-ever collaboration with Whamisa, one of our most beloved brands known for their innovative organic formulations featuring fermented and water-free technologies, features a full-range routine to restore radiance and plump fine lines with the multi-functional superstar Chai Tea ingredient. Each step of the routine was carefully crafted to hydrate, brighten, and refine skin while restoring a youthful glow.

I expected this to be scented like a spiced chai tea latte or something. I don’t know if I’m happy or slightly disappointed that this is actually almost fragrance free. This is hydrating without being too much. I layer this as its not enough moisture alone. Oily skin might be able to use this alone. This layers well and plays well with other products. No piling. I never experienced any break outs or adverse effects while using. This is gentle and hydrating while remaining light in texture. It’s totally pleasant to use and affordable at $26.

This contains Rooibos tea leaf, Stevia leaf, Japanese Red Pine, Oolong tea & turmeric root extracts as the first ingredients. Love that. Follow it up with some sodium hyaluronate, shea & murumuru butter, and multiple fruit seed oils for extra hydration. Chaga mushroom increases oxygen and blood flow to the skin. I love Chaga mushroom in the Blithe pressed serum. It gives a youthful dewy glow to my skin. I so love that they put pumpkin seed oil in this as well because I’m obsessed with it. It helps firm, soothe and moisturize the skin while giving loads of antioxidants. This is really a well done gel cream that even sensitive skin should be able to use. It should also please green and natural skincare lovers as it’s free of the ingredients considered “nasties”. I could easily keep this in my rotation all year long. It can be layered to tailor any season.

The Chai Tea Eye Cream is also a lighter but hydrating eye cream. It comes in a large 0.67 oz plastic tube. Details per Glow Recipe:

A lightweight eye cream that instantly awakens and hydrates the delicate eye area while helping plump up fine lines and wrinkles. The Whamisa by Glow Recipe Chai Tea Eye Cream is based in antioxidant and flavonoid-rich Rooibos Tea extract to hydrate and nourish the delicate eye area while helping diminish fine lines and wrinkles. Formulated with soothing, healing Propolis and brightening, texture-refining Turmeric.

This contains a lot of the same ingredients as the Cream-in-Serum. There’s the addition of Saw Palmetto, Dong Quai, Siberian motherwort & Skullcap extract. It’s also missing the fruit oils contained in the gel cream. I can’t find any real data online about why Saw Palmetto is in an eye cream. The only skincare item I see it in is some Origins stuff as an antiseptic or purifier. There’s a ton on Saw Palmetto as a supplement for prostate help but that’s the majority of what I get on google. If anyone knows why this is in an eye cream I would love to hear it. Dong Quai extract helps improve blood flow and is an antioxidant. There’s not much I can find on Siberian motherwort, but as a supplement it helps with cardiac function, allergies and helps with skin conditions. There’s some saying it helps with itching. So maybe it helps with circulation and inflammation. Skullcap extract is anti-inflammatory, skin brightening and an antioxidant.

This is an unscented eye cream & it’s moderately hydrating. This won’t cure those really dry eyes like mine. If you have mild to moderate dry under eye this should be fine for you. I can only use this in the day, not at night. It’s just not enough at night for me. I like layering this over a serum and find it does well as a mild hydrating eye cream. You do get a huge tube for $26 so it’s really affordable. I never experienced any side effects while using. While I love the nice ingredient list it’s just an OK product for me. It never blew me away and I wouldn’t repurchase. I think this is great for 20-30 year olds. Those of us closer to 40 and over probably need more moisture and oomph in our eye creams.

The real star of this collection is the Serum-in-Cream. That’s the one I would repurchase. I’m going to email Glow Recipe and ask about the  Saw Palmetto and Siberian motherwort as I’m curious. I’ll update if I get an answer.
